First Time Going To HoYoFEST? Here's What You Can Expect
HoYoFest is back, and we visited the Genshin-themed festival in Malaysia at La Juiceria Signature at Nadi Bangsar over the weekend. If you're going soon, here's what you can expect. (NOTE: The Genshin theme lasts til 9 October).
This year, HoYoFEST feels quite relaxing. One of the main reasons is because it isn't held at a shopping mall like last year. The crowd who went were there solely for the event and during their reserved time slot. The downside to this was that you may or may not meet a lot of cosplayers during your slot.
Overall, it was an enjoyable event and we enjoyed ourselves there.
What To Expect
When you arrive during your first time slot, you will need to wait in line for a while when the doors are open. The people working there will take you to your allocated seats.
Then, you'll be given a menu with a pencil and paper to take down your order. Once you've selected what you want to eat you can notify them of your order and they will help you sort it out. All you have to do now is enjoy the moment and the food.
If you'd like to visit the merch shop you can do so while waiting for your food, or after you're done. But take note that there may be a queue to shop for the merchandise.
And that is your entire 45 minutes experience at this year's HoYoFEST.
What we enjoyed:
- For themed meals, the food and drinks were surprisingly good. We had the Northern Smoked Chicken and Imported Poultry, both of which were good.
2. For someone who doesn't enjoy crowds, this year's HoYoFest is ideal. The parking spots were easy to access with lots of parking spots.
3. The variety of merchandise that was for sale was great. The price is probably the cheapest I've come across. However, considering that it's been a few days ago since our visit, we can't confirm that the merch you want is still available. And if you factor in the price of your entry/ meal together with the merchandise, it's still a little on the cheaper side.
What didn't we enjoy:
- The little Genshin fans you get to meet were a letdown, it didn't deter our enjoyment, but it would have been nicer to see more character cosplays there.
- 45-minutes seems a reasonable time to soak in the atmosphere and eat, but because there are so many people in one sitting, sometimes the employees may not have noticed what time you came in. Hence, they would let you know that it's time to leave, even if you've been there for just 20 minutes. But, once you explained the situation and what time you came in, they're quite reasonable and would allow you to continue eating slowly. Again, not a major problem in my books.
Overall, this year's HoYoFest is fun, stress-free and with minor issues that didn't deter our experience one bit.
Here are some photos we took of the event:
